Date Muffins

Ingredients
- 1/2 c. Crisco
- 4 well beaten eggs
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 c. flour
- 1 lb. chopped dates
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1 grated orange rind

Cream Crisco and sugar, add eggs, buttermilk, 1-1/2 c. flour, nuts and dates, which have been floured with remaining 1/2 c. flour.

Add orange rind and mix well.

Bake in well greased and floured muffin tins at 375° for 15 or 20 mins.
15-20 mins • 375°F

Glaze: 1-1/2 c. sugar, 3/4 c. orange juice. Combine and cook until sugar melts.

Drop each hot muffin into warm glaze and remove to wax paper immediately.
