Tamale Balls
A big hit in Longview with party hostesses. Makes 36 balls. Recipe from Mrs. Walter B. Barnett, Longview, Texas
Serves: 36 balls

Ingredients
- 5 c. tomatoes
- 1 tbsp. chili powder
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 lb. ground pork
- 1-1/2 c. corn meal
- 3/4 c. tomato juice
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. garlic puree
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 2 tsp. salt

Mash tomatoes with fork, and make a sauce of the first three ingredients and let simmer.

Combine other ingredients in order given. Mix well with your hands.

Form into small balls the size of large marbles. Place in sauce.

Place in sauce and simmer covered for 2 hours

Keep hot in chafing dish.

These tamale balls can be frozen.
